I didn't die...
On Friday I went back to the climbing gym. It was weird, and I will admit I was pretty scared to get back at it. I got changed, got my harness on, clipped on my chalk bag and then went for my refresher lesson. A coworker had gone with me and it was her first time. I was the one who had to climb the wall twice while they taught her how to belay. I was exhausted after the first climb, and they made me do it AGAIN without a break... I was starting to remember what a workout felt like. We did about 5 walls each, I went 3/4 of the way up everytime, I think I went all the way up on one wall. The thought of falling is still in my head and slightly paralizes me at times but I think I just need to get used to the feeling of being held up in the air by a piece of rope. My ankle was swollen after all this but no more then on a regular day. If anything I got some good stretches out of it. I got home around 10:30pm and my whole body was tired. My muscles have not been that tired in at least 6 months which makes me sad. It hurt but it was a good hurt. Yesterday there was no pain and I walked around a mall for about 7 hours. Today is when I felt the pain, I can feel it in my shoulders, my armpits and my elbows. Best best I can figure is that I was pulling myself up on the wall to compensate for the lack of strength in my right ankle. Hopefully next time will be a little better... all in all was a good first time back.
