Day 1: Core what?

Fitness: Wow. Apparently I am not fit whatsoever. I completed the first workout for P90x called "core synergetics." Actually 'completed' might not be the best term. I had to stop and pause the DVD many many times to catch my breath. I was wearing a heart rate monitor and many times my heart rate was in the 170s. You would think all that running would have helped my cardiovascular health, but no. There were a good range of moves that I won't get bored of because I think I will still suck at this in three months. It's hard to be bored when you're concentrating on surviving. Tomorrow is Cardio day. Oh dear.

Diet: As mentioned before P90x comes with a diet program which calls for high protein intake for the first 30 days laid out portion-wise (5 proteins, 2 dairy, 1 fat, etc). So I make a spreadsheet (I heart spreadsheets) with my meal selections for a week. Dave and I even went out grocery shopping yesterday and picked up a week's worth of food for my planned meal selections. Today I learnt some very valuable things. First, taking a multivitamin on an empty stomach makes me feel nauseous. Second, fake lunch meat is terrible and very hard to eat while nauseous. Third, the cookies and creme protein bar has this weird chalk aftertaste which wouldn't be so bad if you could wash it down with something other than water. Finally, the equivalent of 2 servings of protein in the form of firm tofu is entirely too much food for me in one sitting.

Modifications: okay fuck the high protein thing. Some simulated meat stuff is okay, but some is downright terrible. I cannot eat soy burgers and tofu en mass for that long. I have decided to revert to good old fashion calorie counting. As a picky vegetarian I really would appreciate more than 200cal from carbs per day. I mean who can go without cereal???

Cheers,
